Gaz for me was a mate to share the enjoyments of life with, be it pool, snooker, golf, poker, trips, his kids, the footy and other things in life that we both appreciated.
He was never one to complain too much, at least not about his serious concerns which he tried not to bother people with. Gaz was a man who prided himself on his integrity and I had a great deal of respect for that aspect of his character.
While Gaz was mature for his age (16 or 17), in terms of how he mixed with people, when I first got to know him, I watched him mature and become a responsible, proud and dedicated family man in recent years.
There will be many occasions when I will miss you not being around mate. And there will also be many occasions when memories of the things we did and laughs we had together will provide a warm satisfaction.
I hope this site help to keep many treasured memories of you alive and to allow others an intimate appreciation of what you gave us all.
Gaz was to me like he was to a lot of other people, a mate. We also had a few things in common but the main topic was of course sport. He loved it, he lived it and he played it, and generally very well. I will miss his grin, his mannerisms but most of all our friendly arguments, that he generally took the points in. However, on the seldom occasion i took the points i was quick to let him know, because as i said it didn't happen very often. The way Matty and little Jakey looked up to him and wanted to be like him was priceless. He was the boss, he let them know it but i think they loved him all the more for this. Jaimee, you loved your man, you will miss your man, but you will never forget your man like not only me but so many more. Miss ya mate. From the bloke who plays shit golf well. RIP Chris Maher
Husband of Jaimee, proud father of Matthew and Jake, son of Ray and Rose and brother of Sharon. Respected and loved friend of many in and around Geelong.
This website is intended to help us remember and appreciate Gary and his achievements. While confident, he was the last to brag about his achievements, though there were many. Gary was a natural sportsman and man of great strength and integrity. We're grateful for the times he shared with us.
